چکیده

Purpose: One of the most important issues regarding radio frequency electromagnetic fields (RF‐EMF) is their effect on genetic material. Therefore, we investigated the cytogenotoxic effects of 900 MHz radio frequency electromagnetic fields (RF‐EMF) and the effect of a recovery period after exposure to RF‐EMF on bone marrow cells of immature and mature rats. Materials and methods: The immature and mature rats in treatment groups were exposed to RF‐EMF for 2 h/day for 45 days. Average electrical field values for immature and mature rats were 28.1±4.8 V/m and 20.0±3.2 V/m, respectively. Whole‐body specific absorption rate (SAR) values for immature and mature rats were in the range of 0.38‐0.78 W/kg, and 0.31‐0.52 W/kg during the 45 days, respectively. Two recovery groups were kept for 15 days after RF‐EMF exposure. Results: Significant differences were observed in chromosome aberrations (CA), micronucleus (MN) frequency, mitotic index (MI) and ratio of polychromatic erythrocytes (PCE) in all

Genetic Effects of Nonionizing Electromagnetic Fields

Nonionizing electromagnetic fields (EMF) have photon energy less than 10eV, a level not sufficient to produce ions by ejection of orbital electrons from atoms. The biological effects of two types of nonionizing electromagnetic fields are being studies intensely: extremely-lowfrequency (ELF) electromagnetic field and radiofrequency radiation. Extremely-low-frequency EMF covers the frequency rang...

Comparing cytogenetic effects of extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields in Brassica napus L and Zea mays L

Many biological effects of exposure to extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields(ELF-EMFs) have been documented, but little work carried out on plants. A meiotic study wasperformed on Brassica napus L as C3 plant and Zea mays L as a C4 plant exposed to electromagneticfields. Our investigations were focused on plants grown from wet pretreated seeds with3 and 10 mT for a 4 h exposure time an...

Introduction: The rapid development of wireless telecommunication technologies over the past decades, has led to significant changes in the exposure of the general public to electromagnetic fields. Nowadays, people are continuously exposed to different sources of electromagnetic fields such as mobile phones, mobile base stations, cordless phones, Wi-Fi routers, and power lines. Therefore, th...

The effect of Cannabis sativa extract on damages induced by electromagnetic fields on ovarian follicle maturation and hormonal surface changes in mice

Electromagnetic waves (EMF) are a mixture of electrical and magnetic waves. The energy transmitted by these radiations is absorbed by living tissues. Electromagnetic fields seem to cause infertility in women. Cannabis is annual herbaceous plant grows in tropical areas. This study was conducted to investigate the protective effects of hydroalcoholic extract of Cannabis sativa in various doses of...
